The End of an Era

The time has come, Folks, when we must announce the sale of ‘Eamonn’s’ Irish Pub and Restaurant. We had many, many delightful years there – with such fond memories of very happy times – the great singing, the legendary hospitality, the delicious food and drink. We were truly blessed to have had Eamonn singing there and hosting many fabulous Irish entertainers – both local and from Ireland. We will never lose those memories, but it is time for Mareena and myself to move on with our lives. God bless all of you who enjoyed Eamonn’s. Thanks for all the memories.

Eamonn McGirrIn December 1991, Eamonn Mary and Mareena McGirr came to the Capital District in upstate New York, and for many years now have been successfully running a truly authentic Irish pub and restaurant – Eamonn’s. As a matter of fact, it was just recently chosen as The Best Irish Pub 2001. Eamonn’s is renowned for its top-class Irish international entertainment, with such names as The Wolfe Tones 3, Tommy Makem, The Clancys, Foster and Allen, Robbie O’Connell, Paddy Reilly, The Furey Brothers, Cherish the Ladies, Stockton’s Wing, Four Men and a Dog, The Whole Shabang, Danny Doyle and a constant stream of top-class local entertainers.

On Monday, June 20th, 2005, the unthinkable happened. Eamonn’s was badly damaged by fire, due to faulty electrical wiring in the attic wall. Much of the building, however, was saved – thanks to the tireless efforts of our brave firefighters. Our most grateful thanks to them – our heroes. Thank you guys and gals.
